Our Bee on a Wire course is perfect for sewists who have taken a beginning class or course (like our Beginner Experience or an in-person class) and want to advance to a well fitting underwired bra. You might have tried to make a wired bra and can’t seem to get the fit right. You might be starting out and are eager to make your first wired bra. You might even be an experience bra sewist but are still not quite satisfied with your wire or your pattern.
You will learn SO MUCH as you work with our amazing teachers and participate in our events. There is no single pattern or wire type that is right for everyone, and this course will help you choose an appropriate pattern, find a size and make alterations and finally take a look at a variety of wires and see how they work in your bra, on your body. This can become your go-to bra pattern, or you can use it to continue to explore.
Just $129 for a full month of learning.
Life is too short for an uncomfortable, unflattering bra!
I have always loved to sew and I really love a challenge, so I was the first to sign up when I saw an ad for a bra-making course. To my unbelievable surprise, I was able to sew a really comfortable bra that also happened to look great. The best part was that it made the girls look absolutely fabulous!
I took my new bra to the harshest critics I could find: everyday people in everyday bras. I tested it out on a few friends and they unanimously agreed- it was the most comfortable bra they had ever worn. Silhouettes were sleeker, curves were curvier, and perkiness was off the charts! Friends told friends and a custom bra salon was born in what is now my studio in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
I have been in business for over 15 years and my favourite part about it all is still the confidence I am able to give my customers. People from as far away as Australia and as close as next door have come for their own, comfortable, sexy, made-to-measure, wires-never-poking, custom bra.
For many years, my job has been to alleviate pain and discomfort for numerous people. I have a background in Kinesiology and post-rehab exercise, and I also have worked extensively in Pedorthics and orthotics where I helped to correct gait and overall posture through proper fitting and custom-made pieces.
I took this expertise to bra construction in early 2016. One day, my mother-in-law read about a local custom bra maker offering a ‘how to sew your own bra’ workshop. The class was lead by Karin of Mrs. Weavers Finest Unmentionables. Casually, she wondered aloud if I’d be able to construct her a custom bra if I took the workshop. So…off to the workshop I went!
By the end of this first workshop, I had sewn up my own custom bra pattern for myself, and the moment I put it on, I was SHOCKED. It fit…in a way that was vastly different than the way my store-brought bras “fit”. This bra – my bra – was comfortable beyond anything I had ever thought possible.
That was it. I was hooked. Immediately, I pursued further education to become a professional bra maker, specializing in bespoke fit. And soon, Blush Bra Studio was born. I also offer personal pattern development and fit sessions.
I have been sewing for my whole life. My Oma sewed, my mom sewed (custom drapes, tailoring, bridesmade dresses, halloween costumes, bikinis that my sister and I would design, barbie clothes, doll clothes, literally anything that she could put under the needle).
