Today, Linda Crawford from Uplift Custom Bras joins us on the blog to share how to change the tee back on your bra into a ballet back.
Tee Back
Ballet Back
This is an easy adjustment to do if you do not like the fit of a Tee back. I prefer a Ballet style back because it gives me more support, and it helps containing back fat.
You will need your back band and frame/ side frame pattern pieces.
I took off the 1/4” seam allowances at the side seam for ease in drafting. They will be added back when the drafting is completed.
Draw a line straight up from the hook and eye attachment – centre back line.
Draw a straight line across to the top of the frame piece – rib cage line.
Measure your hook and eye. A 3×3 hook and eye is 2 1/4” wide. Mark this on the straight line.
Using your French Curve, draw a line as shown. This line determines where your straps sit on your back, so you may want to experiment with different curves to find the most comfortable point for you.
At this stage trace off your new back piece and side frame piece. Remember to add back the ¼” seam allowances.
